Businesses out there are constantly striving to please their customers and keep a smile on their faces. Because they know once a customer walks out of their doorstep with a not so happy look on their face, word is going to spread like wild fire and that could come back to hit your business hard for all the wrong reasons. So companies are always trying to wrack their brains as to what customers are actually looking for when it comes to things they want to buy or services that they require. What is that one thing that will please them no end and keep them happy customers, coming back to you for more.

One word that slips out of a customer’s mouth very frequently is quality. And they actually know what they mean by the term. And for businesses it comes down to having a good tool that can give an honest assessment of their products and services. The ISO assessment is one such tool and the recent ISO 9001 transition that occurred shows that even the assessment has to change with the change in the way the world functions. The latest version of the ISO 9001 was published in 2015 with the previous one coming in 2008.

This change was also seen in the ISO 14001 transition from 2004 to 2015, which is the environmental management systems. Most of us wonder why this change had to occur. Why did the standards have to change? The answer is pretty simple. It’s because the challenges that businesses of today have to confront are vastly different to those that had to be faced about a decade ago. What with increasing global population and planet earth holding its highest ever population companies have to figure out a way of churning out products at an alarming rate all the while ensuring that there is no decline in quality. The supply chains have to operate in a more complex manner in order to ensure that customer demands are met.

Also taking into account the fact that the customers and various other parties are much better informed than they were a decade ago plays a huge role. Because now the expectations have risen and the customers know what they have to look out for in the product they are buying, and they can at a glance tell what a particular product is lacking. And thanks to social media the general public now has stronger voice than ever before. So you don’t want a disgruntled customer taking you to the cleaners on a social networking site.

And it is precisely to take this new environment into account that the assessment tools have been refurbished.
